Drawing is the oldest thing in this studio and the thing we are least willing to hurry. It is also, in a product business, the most measurable — a drawing either gets someone through step four or it doesn’t.
What we draw
- Editorial and product illustration — the drawings that carry a page or a listing where a photograph would be literal and flat.
- Spot drawings and illustrated detail — the small marks that give packaging something photography cannot provide.
- Technical drawing — exploded views, cutaways and detail callouts for the step where the real geometry is hidden inside something else.
Instruction and assembly work
Assembly instructions are a design problem photography is bad at, and this work usually arrives as part of a packaging project rather than on its own — the insert and the box are the same job.
- Step sequences — the numbered spreads that come in the box.
- Parts lists that agree with the drawing rather than contradicting it.
- Wordless where it can be. Instructions that work without translation are cheaper to ship internationally and they fail less often.
